Obituary

Clara Faye Braxmier, 82, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away on April 25, 2024, following a life well lived.

Clara was born on January 9, 1942, in Kerens, Texas to Claud and Ioma Perry. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and finding beauty in the world around her. Being one of eight siblings, her upbringing was a tapestry woven with cherished memories and heartfelt connections. She shared fond recollections of a simpler time and lazy summer afternoons spent sitting under the biggest shade tree on the farm reading a book to any curious listener, the rooster being her favorite.

Her journey was marked by many milestones. In 1960 Clara graduated as valedictorian of Kerens High school. After graduation Clara went to work at the glove factory in Corsicana, Texas, where she met Walter, the love of her life and began a beautiful and remarkable partnership of 57 years. Clara and Walter married on February 9, 1962, and welcomed three children, Scott, Rhonda, and Perry before moving to their final family home in Waxahachie.

While raising their family, she worked for Gibsons and S.H. Kress & Co. before eventually going into business for herself selling Home Interiors and Gifts. She grew a successful business by sharing her love of decorating and bringing beauty into the lives of others. She developed a loyal following from clients, most of whom she called friends. She loved her church, traveling, trying new recipes, and would spend countless hours in her garden where she found much happiness. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, unwavering faith, and unending generosity evident in the care she took of her family and friends.

Clara's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Clara was preceded in death by her husband Walter Braxmier, sons Perry and Scott Braxmier, parents Claud and Ioma Perry, siblings Vera Oglesby, Vivian Jock, Mildred Keele, Zelda Steen, Clifton Perry, Lester Perry, and James Perry.

Left to honor Clara's memory are her daughter Rhonda Burch and husband David of Midlothian, Tx. Grandchildren Autumn Lewis and husband Jared of Ellicott City, MD, Amanda Thomas and husband Kendall of Midlothian, Tx, and Karma Braxmier of Bedford, Tx. Great granddaughter Kylie Needham and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
