IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Connie Joan
Smith
September 2, 1936 – August 25, 2022
Constance Noah Smith went home to be with the Lord at the age of 85 on August 25, 2022. She was born September 2, 1936, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Hal and Dorothy Noah. Known as Connie, she was the only girl of three children. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill of 54 years; parents; brothers Ken Noah and David Noah.
Connie grew up as a PK—a preacher's kid in a home that was filled with a lot of love. Ministry towards others was instilled in her at an early age, which would have a lasting effect on her throughout her lifetime.
Connie's life was impacted when she was introduced to the love of her life Bill Smith through his sister Jane. Bill was a young airman in the Air Force and was stationed at a nearby base. It was an instant attraction that stayed with them throughout their lifetime. The bedrock of their marriage was their deep abiding faith and having Christ as the center of everything they did.
Being the only girl in the family, she was adored by her parents and was admittedly a bit spoiled. She would often joke that all her selfishness went out the door when she became a mother to five children in 6.5 years—Kim, Bill, Hal, Connie, and Wendy.
Bill and Connie's love of travel served them well while Bill was in the Air Force. They traveled all over the world with their five children in tow. They lived in Spain for several years and made a point of exposing their children to the European culture by visiting museums and exploring new cities and country sides throughout Europe. When payday rolled around, the kids knew that meant travel time. Connie would make delicious picnic lunches and off they would go in their Volkswagen van to explore new places.
It was while they lived in Spain that Bill and Connie begin to feel the tug to full-time ministry, which was ironic because both had always said they never wanted to do full time ministry work since each grew up as PK.
Bill retired from the Air Force and after attending seminary, became the pastor for over 25 years at Highland Meadows Assemblies of God Church in Red Oak, TX. It was there that Connie really blossomed doing what she loved the most, which was serving others. Connie was known by all for her generosity and fun personality. Her love language was gift giving and acts of service. She was gifted at making people feel like they mattered, so much so that many of her twenty-three grandchildren to this day think they were her favorite!
Connie was all about family and placed significant importance on staying connected as a family, especially once her kids became adults and had families of their own. Each summer Connie and Bill along with their five children and their families would spend a week at South Padre Island. So many wonderful memories were created during those trips.
Connie is survived by her children Kim Waishes (David), Bill Smith (Alma), Hal Smith (Jen), Connie Webster (Wayne) and Wendy Rodriguez (Manuel). She was blessed with 23 grandchildren and last count 42 great grandchildren with a couple more on the way—all of whom made her very proud.
Thank you, God for giving us the BEST Mom/MeMaw. Life will never be the same without her in it.
