David Holmes, a devout Christian, skilled carpenter, and devoted family man,
passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at the age of 84. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Wynema Richard Holmes, parents, Dave and Nellie Holmes,
sister, Virginia Hembree, granddaughter, Kaylee Holmes, and two other
grandchildren who died at birth. David is survived by his wife, Rosie Allen, of
Grand Prairie, TX, son Brent Holmes and wife Jana, of Midlothian TX, daughter
Carla Meadows and husband Patrick of Ovilla, TX, son Bradley Holmes and wife
Glenda of Green River, WY, son Greg Holmes and wife Daphne of Mansfield, TX,
sister Vicky Branscum of Plainview, TX, brother Elmo Holmes of Lindale, TX, and
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David was born December 13, 1939 in Charleston, Missouri to Nellie and Dave
Holmes. He learned the art of carpentry from his father at a young age, a craft
that would shape his life and career. Over the years, he worked as a
Superintendent and General Contractor on numerous commercial projects,
earning respect and admiration for his dedication and craftsmanship.
David was married for 56 wonderful years to his first love, Wynema Richard
Holmes, until her passing in 2015. Together, they raised their four children and
watched their family grow with the addition of many grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. David was a very proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Anyone who knew David knew he loved God and his family above all else.
In 2018, David found companionship and love again with his long-time friend,
Rosie Allen, whom he married. Together they enjoyed many adventures, trips,
and back porch conversations for almost 6 years.
David's life was marked by his deep faith, love for his family, and commitment to
his work. He will be dearly missed by his wife Rosie, his children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory
will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and we rejoice in knowing he is
with our Lord and Savior and we will see him again one day.
