Rev. Derwood Wayne Dubose, 84 of Maypearl, Texas, went home to his eternal reward Thursday, January 28, 2021.
He was born April 13, 1936 to Wilson Brewer and Alice Dubose in Meridian, Mississippi. Rev. Dubose married the love of his life, Dorothy Tapley on June 2, 1956 in Dallas, Texas.
Derwood is preceded in death by his parents, one son: Ronald Guy Dubose, and one brother; Basil DuBose.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years; Dorothy Ruth Dubose, one daughter; Lavita DuBose Vinci and her husband Thomas of Rye, Colorado, two sons; Richard DuBose and his wife, Rita of Springfield, Missouri, Russell DuBose and his wife, Renae of Maypearl, Texas. Grandchildren; Renee DuBose Exley and husband, Jason of Midlothian, Texas, Ryan DuBose and wife, Lauren of Dallas, Texas, Rachel DuBose Jenkins and husband, Eric of Corinth, Texas, Trisha Vinci of Pueblo, Colorado, Anthony Vinci and wife, Cheyenne of Rye, Colorado, Andrew Vinci of Pueblo, Colorado, Robert DuBose and wife, Kayla of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Richard DuBose of Maypearl, Texas, Raegan DuBose of Maypearl, Texas. Great Grandchildren; Ethan, Landon, Preston and Cannon Exley, Stratton and Boston DuBose, Kingston and Princeton Jenkins, Olivia and Evangeline Vinci. One brother, Gerald DuBose and wife, Sherry of Lubbock, Texas and one sister, Carol Horton and husband, Richard of Tyler, Texas.
Bro. Dubose became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in 1964. Before retiring in 2004, he was the Superintendent of the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. He served as pastor of Memorial Assembly of God in Duncanville, pastor of Goldmine Assembly of God in Dallas, Presbyter of the South Dallas Section and Assistant Superintendent. He served on the Southwestern Assembly of God University Board of Regents and the Pleasant Hills Children's Home Board. Bro. Dubose established the North Texas District Loan Fund, he had a great heart for missions and for developing the Lakeview Camp and Retreat Center. Through his final days, he continued to preach the gospel of Christ to everyone around him and desired for everyone to have a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. He leaves a lasting legacy and spiritual impact on the ministers, churches and the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, February 6, 10:00 O'clock , at Lakeview Camp and Retreat Center, Dubose Auditorium, 5128 FM 66, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. Funeral Service will follow visitation at 11:30 at Lakeview Camp and Retreat Center. Interment will follow at Little Bethel Cemetery, 1803 Cedar Hill Road, Duncanville, Texas 75137.
