Obituary

Eldon Dale Conrad passed away Sunday April 28, 2019 at his home in Waxahachie. His family and friends grieve for their loss but Heaven is brighter today because of his presence.

Eldon was born in Bloomington, Kansas on February 7, 1930 to Chauncey and Nellie Conrad.  He graduated from Alton High School in Alton Kansas.  After high school he played for the St. Louis Cardinal baseball farm team before attending Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.  It was at CBC that he met the first love of his life Wilena Lammie.  Upon graduation in May of 1952 the two married, in Gary , Indiana.

The newlyweds then headed to  Arkansas where they served as house parents at Hot Springs Children's Home for four years.  Upon their departure  they adopted four boys to raise as their own.  Later they were blessed with a son and daughter.

Arriving in Waxahachie, Texas in 1956 Eldon was hired as a produce manager for Wyatt's Grocery store later becoming the Kroger Company.  He worked for the Kroger Company 40 years and was a produce merchandiser the last 20 of those years.  He retired in July of 1992.

After retirement Eldon and Wilena became Papaw and Memaw in which they devoted their world to.  The two continued their very close relationship for 44 years until death parted them in December of 1996.

Eldon was an active member of his church Fellowships.  He served on the deacon board for a number of years, and was director of the Sunday School department for years.  It was at church he met the second love of his life Betty Annear.  They married in January of 2002.

Eldon and Betty were very involved with their families and spent many hours doing hospital visitation.  They both were faithful stewards until death parted them in July of 2018.

Eldon was a man of great faith and when he prayed you knew he had reached the throne room of God.  Many were touched by the Hand of God through his very powerful and anointed prayers.  This spiritual warrior has left a beautiful heritage for his family.
