Elwanda June Johnson, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18, 2026. She was born on June 18, 1935, to John William Barrett and Sudie Icy Hickman Barrett.

Elwanda was a nurse for approximately 10 years. She loved writing poems and being active in her church. She enjoyed visiting nursing homes and spending time with anyone who needed a friend. She was the happiest when she was around her family and when spending time with her Savior.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert Clyde Johnson, parents William and Sudie Barrett, sons, David Johnson & Wayne Johnson, daughter, Elaine Johnson, daughter-in-law, Elaine Johnson and 10 brothers and sisters.

Elwanda is survived by her children, Randall Johnson & wife Tamara, Daniel Johnson & wife Sharon, Christine Odom & husband Jack, grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Robert Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Matt Johnson & wife BreAnn, Alexandria Samelo & husband Eyan, Nathaniel Odom, and her great-grandchildren Dylan Johnson, Madison Faurot, Matthew Johnson, Faith Gunn-Johnson, Noah Johnson & Devin Johnson.

A visitation will be held at Waxahachie Funeral Home on June 24, 2026, at 10am with a funeral service to follow at 11am. A private family burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas.
