Ernest Leon O'Daniel, 90 of Midlothian, passed into the Loving Arms of God on May 16 th , 2023, in Midlothian surrounded by his family. He was born to the late D.B and Dora Viola Morgan O'Daniel on October 27, 1932 in Boyce, TX.
Ernest served his country for 22 years, 13 years in the US Army and 9 years in the US Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force he made his home in California until 1993. In 1993 he and his family moved back to Waxahachie, Texas.
He is a member of the Wagon Wheel Cowboy Church. He loved to fish, play golf, and go camping with his family. Ernest loved his family and loved doing things with them. He will be greatly missed by so many who knew and loved him.
Earnest is survived by his wife, Melba O'Daniel of Midlothian, 2 sons, Joseph O'Daniel and his wife Betty of Waxahachie and Mike Crandall of Fort Worth, 3 daughters, Leslie Furlow Bagwell and husband Robert of Sequim, Washington, Trena Nevels of Fort Worth, and Jackie Palmer and husband Robert of Mount Vernon, 1 step-son Rodney Sevier and wife Karen of Midlothian, and 1 step-daughter Jennifer Lowe and husband Bryan of Rice. He is also survived by 6 brothers, Troy Lee O'Daniel and wife Marilyn of Aquilla, Harold Wayne O'Daniel and wife Geri of Corsicana, Jimmy O'Daniel of Waxahachie, J.B. O'Daniel of Cedar Creek, Gerald Lloyd O'Daniel and wife Gail of Ennis, Glen Paul O'Daniel and wife Betty of Waxahachie, One sister-in-law, Carmen O'Daniel of Waxahachie, and 14 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He also had a California Family that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.B. and Viola O'Daniel, four brothers Billy O'Daniel, Charlie O'Daniel, Earl Ray O'Daniel, and Robert O'Daniel two sisters, Doris Jane and Carla Sue Porter, and one son Ernest L. O'Daniel, Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, 6:00-8:00 PM at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Service will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, 10:00 AM at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday May 22, 2023, 9:15 AM at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
