IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Florene
Smith
December 18, 1921 – June 16, 2019
On June 16, 2019 Frances Florene Smith passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord. She celebrated her 97 th birthday in December of this past year.
Born on December 18, 1921 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, she was the first child of Guy Crowe and Eunice Dooley Crowe. Her life was one of unusual tragedy, uncommon fortitude, and extraordinary faith.
At the age of 11, she met tragedy in the sudden death of her father. When her mother remarried, she moved with the family to Arkansas. It was there that she met her first husband, RL Moore and to this union was born one daughter, Darlene. At the age of 23, she was a war widow with the loss of her husband in the battle on Okinawa. After three years she married Kenneth Leon Smith and to this union was born Carol Ann and Kenneth L Smith, Jr. This marriage lasted 53 years until her husband Leon's death in 2001. On June 14, 2018, her daughter, Carol Ann, passed away, and one month later, in July one of her grandsons died. Through it all, she was sustained by God's unfathomable grace. As a teenager, she had accepted Christ and her unfaltering faith kept her through the years
In her active years she was a member of the Home Demonstration club, served as a sales associate in a department store and assisted in flower arranging at a flower shop. She liked to garden, was a "World-class" Southern cook, and an excellent seamstress. She, also, loved to go to the lake and cane pole fish.
Before Florene's health worsened she was always faithful to her Church and served as a women's leader, Sunday school teacher, and an encourager of young people, but her happiest moments in life were as a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. Her primary goal was to teach her children deep values and living the Christian life.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her sister, Doris Durkee; her brother, David Crowe; her two husbands, RL Moore and Leon Smith; her daughter, Carol Roberts; a grandson, James Michael Pomraning; and her step father, Homer Barnett.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Teeter and husband, Earl; her son Kenneth L Smith, Jr and wife, Rita; her grandchildren, David Teeter and wife, Christy; Darla Teeter; DeAnne Teeter and husband, Chris Arrant; Amy Tullos and husband, Jay; Laurie Bonner and husband, Zach; Michael Smith; Carrie Overman; Jonathan Pomraning; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister Barbara Hicks, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A grave side memorial is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2:00 pm at the Havana, AR cemetery
