Glory Ann
Kurtz
July 14, 1939 – April 14, 2026
Our Mother, Grandmother and Friend passed away April 14, 2026. A beautiful soul, she was loved by many. She enriched so many lives with her gutsy rebellious spirit and her kind nature. Laughing was chicken soup for her soul – even in the toughest of times.
Glory Ann was born July 14, 1939 in Minot, North Dakota. She knew early on that horses and writing were her passions. She eventually decided to move to Texas to raise her kids and pursue her professional dreams. Working for a Public Relations company in Dallas – she worked towards her ultimate goal of publishing a national horse magazine. The Quarter Horse News was born in Ft Worth. She lived, dreamed about and eventually built it into the most authoritative publication in the country to cover performance horses in cutting, barrel racing, reining and rodeo. She and her husband Bob Kurtz traveled the country and the world to cover all the big events. During her career she authored or edited many published books about performance horses and the colorful characters that made it such a unique world.
Glory Ann never lost sight of where she came from and what was important to her.
In 2000 Glory Ann and Bob purchased property in the mountains of Colorado – eventually building a cabin. A beautiful place to ride horses, hike and enjoy nature. This was her slice of heaven on earth. She spent summers there and made many wonderful friends.
Glory Ann is survived by Son Chuck Dickinson, Dallas, TX. Daughter Wendy Taggart, Grandview, TX. Grandchildren Ben and wife Kelly Taggart, Grandview, TX. Patsy Taggart, Waco, TX. Charley Taggart, Grandview, TX. Great Granddaughter – Collins Roan Taggart, Grandview, TX. Step Daughter – Vickie Harding.
She is preceded in death by Son Randy Dickinson. Husband Bob Kurtz.
A Memorial Service is planned in Colorado in July – date to be determined. She will go back to the mountains one last time.
