Grace Darlene Bailey completed her witness and went to her reward on March 9, 2024 at the age of 81 at her home in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born to Clarence and Robertice Hobbs on June 27,1942 in Sardis, Texas.

Darlene married Robert Bailey on July 10, 1959, and they worked together in pastoral ministry for over 50 years.  Thirty-five of those years were at the Assembly of God in Hugoton, Kansas, where Darlene loved teaching children's Sunday School. During that time, she also ran a daycare, drove a school bus and then worked as a rural mail carrier. She was known for her abundant cooking, quick wit and compassionate spirit.

Darlene is survived by two sisters: Bonnie Ware of Waxahachie, Texas and Joann Knowles of Paradise, Texas.  Her children: Rebecca and husband Stephen Smith of Waxahachie, Texas, and Stephen and wife Ronda Bailey of Edmond, Oklahoma, and her niece she was privileged to help raise Sandra and husband Dawson Samuel of Bosier City, Louisiana. Her grandchildren: Joseph and wife Adrienne Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Joanna and husband James Huskey of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Ginny Bailey and husband Kirk Ridenour of McAlester, Oklahoma. Her great-grandchildren: Ian Smith, Michael Smith, Milo Huskey, Oliver Huskey and Arlo Huskey.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Francis Hobbs and her sister Margie Webb.

The funeral will be Wednesday, March 13, at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Waxahachie. The burial will follow at the Sardis cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Waxahachie Funeral Home.
