Obituary

Helen Maurine Skoda, 91, peacefully crossed over to her eternal home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Mansfield Methodist Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 27, 1933, the second of 10 children, born to the union of Raymond and Irene True.

She worked fulltime until retiring at the age of 62 to travel extensively with her husband, Richard Skoda, before they settled at Thousand Trails in Whitney, Texas. These travels were some of the highlights of her life. At the time of her passing, she was living in Waxahachie, Texas.

Helen was always someone her children and close friends could go to for advice, love and comfort. As a Christian, her advice, love and comfort came from the words she hid in her heart from the Bible. She so enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would drink coffee with her friends most mornings during the week. Weekends were spent playing games and eating out with family.

She spent many hours knitting and crocheting scarves that were distributed to the homeless during the winter months. It was her small way of giving back. She was also an avid reader.

Once she had great-grandchildren, she became GiGi. That enduring name stayed with her until her peaceful passing.

Survivors include three children: Steven Skoda and wife Darlene, Sandra Johnson and husband Thomas, and Jack Skoda and wife Kathy; grandchildren: Jeremy Robinson and partner Erin Doughtery, Chaz Skoda and partner Nicole Rodriguez, Cody Skoda and wife Robin, Nicholas McIntosh and wife Mickey, Jacob Skoda and partner Kara Coffman, Clayton Skoda and Vivian Skoda; great- grandchildren: Easton Rider McIntosh and Zane Alvis Robinson.

Helen was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Irene True; her loving husband, Richard Skoda; two brothers; two sisters; and many friends.

A Celebration of Life ceremony for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Rockett Baptist Church.
