Obituary

Ida Ruth Compton, 95, passed away in Waxahachie with her family at her side. She was born in Forreston, Texas on August 19, 1922 to Felix Arthur and Edna Rebecca Heath Smith.

Ruth married William O. Compton on June 6, 1943 in Italy, Texas. They were married 67 years and had four children. She was self-employed as a seamstress and dressmaker.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William O. Compton, 21 siblings, and son Sammy Compton.

She is survived by daughters June Wilson, Carol Hayes and Linda Bates; grandchildren Shannon Lundberg, Chad Hayes, Courtney Ten Kley, Eddie Craven, Derek Hayes, Whitney Loibner, Matthew Compton and Richard Bates; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at University Assembly of God Church, Waxahachie, TX. The Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m.

Interment will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 11:30 a.m.
