IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Carlton
James
January 26, 1951 – March 1, 2023
James Carlton James, 72, of Ferris, TX, formerly of Canyon/ Amarillo/ Graham,Texas
passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Services are entrusted to Waxahachie Funeral
Home. The Family will have a Celebration of Life Service in Amarillo, TX at a later date.
Jimmy was born January 26, 1951 in Okmulgee County, OK to Frank and Bonnie (Ross)
James. Jimmy graduated from Weleetka High School 1969.
He was married to Lee Corse and they had a daughter Kamalin, and as life goes
sometimes, that didn't work out. Later in life he married Sis Adams and they had two
children: Katelynn and Dakota. He had two bonus children: Markie and Rocky Adams and
Taylor, who in his eyes was his daughter also.
Again, as life goes, he and Sis divorced twice but remained friends.
Jimmy worked on the pipeline with his brothers, Bobby, Don and Johnny and on the oil
barge as an x ray inspector. He worked on many ranches and also worked for the mesquite rodeo as it was just starting up.
His career was as a horse shoer/farrier as some know it.
When he had to shoe horses and his wife was working he often had the kids in a
playpen in the back of the truck as they got older he would give them horseshoes and
let them clean the nails out to keep them busy while he was working. He helped teach
them to be strong independent and grow them into wonderful adults even though they
weren't all his biological children they were all treated the same and he saw them as his
children just the same. He became the father figure even to his grandchildren.
All the kids grew up around roping arenas and around horses and he saw that they can
make a hand when working. He Loved watching all his children play sports but
sometimes became too loud and eventually had to go to the pickup and listen to the
game on the radio so nobody got in trouble, because his voice was the only one in the
crowds that the kids could hear. He saved all the newspaper articles that had the kids
name in it and every card they wrote or drew all of these moments were very special to
him. He was very family-oriented and spent some holidays with his brothers and siblings
and no one could ever beat his country fried ribs.
He loved playing pool, team roping and playing the lottery. His extended family was his
pool playing family that he loved dearly. Jimmy was one man that still had his ex in laws
and their siblings that still counted him as family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Doug, Charlie, Bobby, Don,
Johnny, Helen, Dorothie, Joann, Virginia, and Nancy.
