James Charles Spence Nov. 24, 1927 - Jan. 18, 2014 James Charles Spence, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at his home in Waxahachie, TX. J.C. was born November 24, 1927 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Jim & Juanita Spence. J.C. eloped with High School Sweetheart, Faye, August 30, 1947 and were married in Paris, Texas.

He served as a teletype operator in the Army/Air Corps where he earned the WWII victory medal and the army occupation medal in Korea. J.C. retired as a service technician from both Itek Corp. and the City of Arlington. He has been a member of First Assembly of God Church since 1947 and founded outpost 12 of the Royal Rangers. He spent over 52 years mentoring boys in the Royal Ranger Program. J. C. raised his own children as well as numerous "Foster" children. His home was always open to anyone in need of food or comfort. He had a big smile and was full of vim and vigor and he laughed easily and was quick with a joke.

J. C. is preceded in death by 2 sons Roy and Andy Spence, 2 brothers Richard and Jerrel Spence. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 66 years Faye Spence, daughters Adele Smith, Melba Allen and husband Michael, and a son Randy Spence. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew Spence, T.J. Spence, Taylor Smith, Sarah Andrle, Emily Spence, Daniel Skelton, a brother Joe Spence and sisters Ann Parker and Carolyn Boatner, as well as a Host of others who have lived in their home.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 6:00 -8:00 PM at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday January 25, 2014 at 10 AM, at House of Hope, former First Assembly of God in Waxahachie. Arrangements under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.
