Jesse Kenneth Moon, 85, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away, Saturday, April 8th in Dallas with his children by his side.
His celebration of life service will be at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, April 11th at University Assembly, 221 Solon Road, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. Dr. Gaylan Claunch, nephew, officiating. Family Burial follows 10 am, Wednesday, at DFW National Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:30 to 6:30 at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund for the Moon Foster children or to Philippine Mission, Assemblies of God World Missions Account 226660, Sheree Moon. Dr. Moon was born at Callihan, Texas, December 21, 1931 to James and Geneva (Armstrong) Moon. A lifelong student, he graduated from Drumright Oklahoma High School. Southwestern University, Waxahachie, Texas. Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry-Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas in 1972. He was a Member of Theta Phi, International Honor Society in theology, Delta Epsilon Chi Honor Society in American Bible Colleges and Outstanding Educators of America.
On January 7, 1950 he married DONNA FAITH HENEGAR, in Hobbs, New Mexico. She is a musician, singer, songwriter and counselor. These ministries of compassion called "Operation Cheer" have opened doors of ministry to her world-wide.
His daughter, Reverend SHEREE MOON, serves in the Philippines as a missionary and has three foster daughters, Lita, Riza, and Gracie. Son, Reverend GLEN MOON, serves as Communications Director for the North Texas Assemblies of God.
God also blessed the Moon's with foster children, Sem and (Sony deceased) Wai, and three granddaughters, Chansy, Eizabeth and Rachel.
Dr. Moon began preaching in 1952, spent his life in ministry as an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God. He served five years as North Texas District Youth Director, then as international evangelist, educator, author. professor Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie, Texas, Central Bible College, and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Springfield, MO; Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, Baguio City, Philippines; Asia Center of Theology, Singapore; also in Europe and Latin America. His legacy includes thousands of young people taught to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Teaching was the base for world-wide ministries in churches, spiritual life conferences, seminars, youth rallies, conventions, camps, councils, college convocations, ministers institutes, and missions crusades, ministering in 42 countries.
He published 37 books, and wrote for religious and professional journals. He pastored in Frisco, Tyler and Dallas, Texas.
He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, plus 4 years reserves in the Korean War. Served as Chaplain of the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed piloting since 1970.
He is survived by his children, and his wife, and siblings James Moon Jr. Cushing, OK, Arlis Moon, Rice, TX, Jerry Moon, Corpus Christi, TX, Doy Moon, Austin, TX, Kathy Vidales, San Antonio, TX and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Geneva Moon.
