J.L. Hice, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Waxahachie, Texas on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
J.L. was born March 31, 1942 in Avalon, Texas to Herschel Hice and Jewell Farmer Hice.
He is preceded in death by his biological father; Herschel Hice, his mother; Jewell Farmer Russell, and the man Jake called his Father; Simpson Russell, and an infant baby brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years; Martha Nell McClain Hice, two sisters; Betty Louise Washington, Janette Beck, one brother; Rick Roy Russell, and brother-in-law; Joe McClain, two nieces; Candi Cryer and Martha Bender, four nephews; Derek Holder, Branden McClain, Carl Washington and Dale Washington, along with countless nieces and nephews and other family members whom he loved dearly and prayed God's Blessings over each one of them.
J.L. proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 O'clock in the afternoon, Friday, October 23, 2020 at Landmark Baptist Church, 982 E. Ovilla Road in Red Oak, Texas, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 O'clock. Interment will be at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
