John Smith, 90, went to be with the Lord February 25, 2019.  He was born September 16, 1928 in Lee Summit, MO,  to Ira and Lela Smith. He married the love of his life Mary Smith in 1947.   He was a member of University Assembly of God Church where he was a Junior boys Sunday School teacher, and also  a Boy Scout leader.  John retired from Carlisle Chevrolet.

He is preceded in death by his sweet wife of 71 years Mary Smith, son Ottie Smith, granddaughter Holly Smith, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers.

J ohn is survived by his daughter Patsy Mathis and husband Clarence, grandchildren Heather Parker, Heidi Smith, Lisa Puckett, Renee Williams, Jeff Mathis and wife Christie, John Mathis and wife Sheila,  several great-grandchildren,  many nieces and nephews and some special friends Mike and Jennifer Reed and boys.

Visitation will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, March 1, 2019 with a Funeral Service starting at 11:00 AM at Waxahachie Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Gateway Memorial Park Cemetery.
