Johnny Lee Cox, 89, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away on July 5, 2024. Johnny was born on February 21,1935 to Mont and Lois Cox in Blum, Texas.
Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked many jobs before finding his way to his job of 40 years at the Waxahachie Country Club where he worked as a mechanic until he retired in 2019.
In 1965, Johnny met Lou Burt in Waxahachie, Texas. Johnny and Lou went on to have one son, Jesse.
Johnny spent much of his retirement enjoying his vast collection of western movies, episodes of Perry Mason and listening to gospel music.
Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife Lou Cox, sister Lorene Goodman, three brothers: George Cox, David Earl Cox and JM Cox, and his parents Mont and Lois Cox. He is survived by his son Jesse D Cox of Farmers Branch, two sisters: Julia Faye King of Everman and Elmira Beasley of Fort Worth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Waxahachie Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Services will be held at the Waxahachie Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2024, at noon with a graveside service to follow at the DFW National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
