Rev. Lavoyd (L.W.) Wayne Dollar
October 1, 1929 - March 11, 2017
Lavoyd W. Dollar, 87, was born in Boonville, AR, on October 1, 1929, and was the second of ten children born to Sidney and Ola Mae Hall Dollar. L. W. hitchhiked to Waxahachie in 1954 to attend Southwestern Bible Institute, now known as Southwestern Assemblies of God University and soon after brought his family to Waxahachie, where he and his wife Verna raised their seven children. L. W. was pastor of First Assembly of God for 18 1/2 years. He was also a partner in Dollar & Rogers Construction Co. for 42 years. L. W. had a passion for missions which was reflected in the many missions trips he sponsored or led. He had a fervor for sharing the gospel where ever he found an opportunity. His value for learning can be seen in his constant support of his alma mater, SAGU. He said, "You're never too old to learn," and he lived this out by earning his Master's in Practical Theology from SAGU in 2011 at the age of 82.
L. W. went to be with the Lord March 11, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was a strong, gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.L. W. is preceded in death his parents and a sister Mary Sid Nail.
L. W. is survived by: his loving wife of 68 years, Verna Rogers Dollar; son, Kenneth Dollar and wife Leta of Waxahachie, TX; son, Roger Dollar and wife Heidi, of Waxahachie, TX; daughter, Carol Dollar and husband Trey of Waxahachie, TX; daughter, Jan Blount and husband Ronnie of Waxahachie, TX; son, Gerald Dollar and wife Jane of Kiev, Ukraine; daughter, Debbie Miles and husband Doyce, of Waxahachie, TX; son, Gary Dollar and wife Kristi of Waxahachie, TX; 25 grandchildren; 41, great-grandchildren with three on the way; sister, Dorothy Drew of Sheffield, OH; sister, Dolores Smith and husband Freddie of Biscoe, AR; brother, Elvis Dollar and wife Helen of Amherst, OH; sister, Shirley Overturf and husband Glen of Des Arc, AR; sister, Dawanna Keys and husband Billy of DeValls Bluff, AR; sister, Patsy Singley and husband Loyd of Crowley LA; brother, Ron Dollar and wife Kay of Waxahachie, TX; sister, Joyce Blake and husband Loyd of Waxahachie, TX.
Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 5-7:00 PM at The Oaks Fellowship, 777 South I-35, Red Oak, TX, 75154. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017 2:00 PM at The Oaks Fellowship. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
