Madelene Elise
Walters
Jan 6, 1957 — Sep 19, 2026
Madelene Walters went to her heavenly home on September 19, 2026, at the age of 69. She was born January 6, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Robert and Elsie Costa.
Madelene and Tommy started their life together 50 years ago in Merkel TX. They raised three wonderful children together over the years and lived in many different places. Clyde TX, Baird TX, Fairfield TX, Marlin TX, and Waxahachie TX. Madelene attended college at Devry University while raising three children and obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting. She was strong, determined and it was always said that if anyone could handle it she could. Madelene had a way of conquering life and all its trials and tribulations. She did it with a calm, and strong quietness.
Their marriage was one to be admired by all. A solid foundation based on faith and their love for Jesus Christ. In their example of unconditional love and respect for one another they set the bar high. This love of faith and family was instilled in their children and became their foundations as well.
Madelene worked many Jobs over the years. Madelene and Tommy both worked and lived with their family at children's homes. They gave much of their lives to working at children's homes. In both Fairfield and La Porte. This was a part of their lives; they both enjoyed serving the Lord. She worked for Simeus foods for many years then later worked for McClane foods. Amongst her coworkers she was well respected without ever expecting or demanding it. People just did. She had that way about her.
To know Madelene is to witness complete respect from her children and husband throughout her journey. She was the matriarch, the strength, the force and She watched over her entire family that she built, so beautifully with Tommy. They designed, constructed and created a beautiful empire of truly loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. What a legacy. She knew that, because she was willing to continue to watch over and protect it at all times. She always ensured everyone was taken care of. This was a deep-seated part of who she was.
Even from a young age she made her sisters feel safe. She was a caregiver and provider by nature and a strong one at that. She was praised and admired often for her strength and resilience. Not just spiritually, but physically. If it wasn't moving a fridge across the room by herself, it was her beating breast cancer and working the entire time during it. Her strength was her attitude. And her attitude was calm. And it was a calm that radiated grace. That was just her. Calm, collected and handling devastating odds with defying grace. Her family has the love she instilled in them to help them through this time and they will continue to honor this amazing legacy she has built.
Madelene is preceded in death by her mother Elsie Taye Thomas, her father Robert Allen Costa.
Left to honor her memory are her loving husband of 49 years Tommy Walters, daughter Tami Boyd, sons Tommy Walters II, Kevin Walters, grandchildren Tristyn, Krystian, Trey, Brian, Lucas, Hunter, Elsie, Payton, seven great-grandchildren, sisters Kathy Bushnell, Faye Lewis, Kaye Parks, and Evelyn Webb.
