IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marek Todd
Frankiewicz
April 21, 1970 – February 26, 2021
Marek Todd Frankiewicz, age 50, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 26, 2021.
Marek was born to Yvonne Gardner Frankiewicz and the late Dr. Ronald George Frankiewicz in Shaker Heights, Ohio on April 21, 1970. He grew up in Houston, Texas as the eldest of six siblings. Marek started playing ice hockey at the age of four, which started a family tradition as several of his siblings followed after him. Marek attended the University of Texas at Austin (U.T.) and graduated in 1993 with his Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He also played Lacrosse and ice hockey in college. At U.T., he met the love of his life, Becky Bates. Marek and Becky got married on December 9, 1995, and moved to Arlington, Texas to start their newlywed life. Marek began his career at Montgomery Elevator doing a sales leadership program. Marek and Becky soon found themselves moving to San Antonio to take on new career paths where Marek began working at Otis Elevator Company. Here, Marek became a dad for the first time as they welcomed their first daughter, Parker Lilly, into the world. After a stint in South Texas, Marek and his family made their way back to North Texas and settled into the small community of Ovilla where they lived for the next 10 years. Marek continued to play ice hockey, made a career change into publishing with John Wiley and Sons, discovered his love for photography, and became a dad for the second and third time to Payton Sydney and Piper Finley. After spending the majority of his life in Texas, in 2010, Marek and his family took on their next adventure and moved to Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago. Here, Marek began to grow his photography business (Shiloh Creek Photography), shooting everything from dance competitions to sporting events, was an active member of the local community and school system, avid Texas Longhorns fan, and loyal dog dad to Shooter, Gunner, and Remington. Marek will be remembered for his uncanny wit, being the ultimate "Dance Dad", and for the fierce love he had for his family. Marek gracefully passed at 12:09pm, symbolizing his anniversary (12/9) with a beautiful "I love you" farewell that will forever be cherished.
Marek is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Becky Bates Frankiewicz; three daughters Parker, Payton, and Piper Frankiewicz; mother, Yvonne Gardner Frankiewicz of Houston; four sisters, Daria Carballido (Augusto) of Austin, Alaïn Frankiewicz (Chung Ying), Kristen Frankiewicz, and Cassie Frankiewicz (Matthew Freeman) of Houston; brother, Erich J. Frankiewicz, SSG USARMY (USA) (April) of Anchorage; niece Alyana Leanora Carballido; nephew Ethan George Ying Frankiewicz and a host of other family and friends.
Marek was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ronald George Frankiewicz; uncles, Larry, and Marty Frankiewicz; aunt, Diane Frankiewicz; paternal grandparents, Joseph, and Frances Frankiewicz; maternal grandparents Jerry and Marianne Gardner.
A private visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Waxahachie Funeral Home. A private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Sardis United Methodist Church at 10am.
