Marion Lynn Mitchell left this world on June 9, 2026, surrounded

by his loving family. Lynn was born in Avalon, TX on May 27,

1943, to Loyal Champton & Nona Buchanon Mitchell. He enlisted

in the U.S. Army in 1960, serving for the 3 rd Infantry Division, as

2 nd Class Gunner and Expert Rifleman, being honorably

discharged; followed by National Guard duties. He loved his

country, the American flag and all that it represented. He worked

many jobs around Waxahachie & Ellis County. Most memorable

was Mitchell’s Garage with his brother Champ. He found his true

passion driving 18-wheelers. His most recent employer, Pat

Salmon Trucking, hauling mail for the postal service. He drove

that big truck as long as he could, into his late 70’s, even trying to

alter his medical diagnosis on paper so he could keep driving! He

was well-known in Ellis County. He had many self-proclaimed

titles, one being The Best Looking Man in Ellis County.

His presence on this earth impacted many. He was the ultimate

protector and the fixer of everything, sometimes with bailing wire

and duct tape.

Lynn was one to show up, have coffee, and then leave quickly. He

had people to see and places to go. He was always there to lend

a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He was hard working

and very feisty.

Lynn was an incredibly proud Papaw. He had many bonus

grandkids, as he was known as Papaw to those who adored him.

He was so proud when his biological grandson, Bryce, was born.

He was over the moon with joy 20+ years later, when he became

a great-grandfather. He was blessed and proud of what he had

created.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents Loyal Champton & Nona

Buchanon Mitchell, brothers Champ Mitchell, Dean Mitchell,

Jimmy Dale Mitchell, sisters Linda Williams and Ruth Cleaver;

and his love for many years, Brenda Baker.

He leaves behind his daughter, Janet and husband, Marc

Johnson, his son, Daniel Mitchell, grandson Bryce Rodstrom and

Bess, great-grandchildren Ryder, Karson, Maddox and Teagan,

and one sister, Kay White. Honorary daughters Judy Foster and

Sherry Bailey, grandchildren, Dennis Adamson, Stacey Haisan,

James Bailey, Amanda Gosdin and Michael Bailey, and mother to

his children and best friend until the very end, Linda

Ngiratumrang.
