IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie Naomi
Holcomb Piersol
July 23, 1928 – June 6, 2023
Marjorie Naomi Davis was born the sixth child, and first girl, to Farrel Doyle and Addie Davis on July 23, 1928 in Waxahachie Texas. Her five older brothers, Elvis, Cleoburn, Curtis, Earl, and Charles adored her but knew she was the "Boss." Following Margie, the family grew with a sister Ruth, a brother Don and twins Ray and Fay.
In 1945, Margie met the love of her life in Carroll H. Holcomb and married him in a winter ceremony on December 18, 1946. In November 1949, Margie gave birth to a daughter Naomi Ruth and five years later completed their family with daughter Carolyn Jean. Carroll was a pastor and together the young family pastored and served in Assembly of God churches across Texas, then Indiana and California. Through this service, they garnered many close, life-long friends.
Margie was quick to laugh and flourished serving her community. She led the church choir, played the organ, piano, and was first to help those in need or lift up a name in prayer. Margie was always put together, whether dining at a fancy restaurant or grocery shopping, the motto was, "Always look your best – you never know who you'll run into" and she lavished attention on her hair spending ample time placing each strand in just the right place. A trait she successfully passed on to her daughter Ruth. A kind and caring soul emulating the character of Christ in her everyday life, Margie let His light shine from her to help others develop a relationship with Him.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Ruth Spollin; grandchildren Morgan Spollin and Joshua Young; sister Ruth Betsill; son in law Doug Young, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her extended family consider themselves blessed to have had her in their lives and know there will be a sweet reunion when He calls us home.
Welcoming her to her heavenly home are parents Farrel Doyle and Addie; siblings Elvis, Cleoburn, Curtis, Earl, Charles, Donald, Fay, and Ray; husbands Carroll H. Holcomb and Warren Piersol; daughter Carolyn Jean; and grandchild Whitney Nicole.
We are forever blessed by her example of a life led by Christ and by all the love she has showered on us. Welcome home Margie, we will soon meet again!
