Mary Anna Sullivan, 73, of Waxahachie, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at her home after a long and hard battle with COPD. She was born to the late George Henry Lucke and Catherine Law on August 6, 1943 in Riverdale MD.
Mary Anna grew up in Sunshine MD and then graduated from Strayer Business College. She married William Sullivan on October 26, 1963 and they moved to Hopewell VA where Bill worked as a firefighter and master electrician. They relocated to the Charlottesville VA area in 1967, and Mary Anna worked as an executive secretary at Del Monte Frozen Foods, World Strides Travel, and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a breast cancer survivor and remained cancer free for over 30 years. She moved to Waxahachie TX in May, 2009.
Mary Anna was a wonderful, caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many people. She loved gardening, working on arts and crafts, and, most of all, she loved her family. She was very active in her church and faithful to God. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and assisted the church office staff and also crocheted hundreds of prayer shawls which have been distributed to many families in the Waxahachie area.
She is survived by her oldest son, Dr. Doug Sullivan of Waxahachie; her three grandchildren, Kimberly Davis of Natural Bridge VA, Daniel Sullivan of Waxahachie TX, and Catherine Featherston of Waxahachie TX; she was also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Triniti Zollman, Marla Zollman, Jamie Welcher, Sophia Sullivan, and Ty Featherston.
Mary Anna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Lucke of Charlottesville VA, her husband, William DeLane Sullivan of Shipman VA, and also by her daughter, Donna Mayeux of Hattiesburg MS.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie TX on Nov 7, 2016 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Church Columbarium immediately after the service.
The family wishes to express great appreciation to the nurses, aides, and other caring staff of Bristol Hospice Pathways in Waxahachie TX who gave her such wonderful and loving care over the last couple of years.
