Graveside services for Melba Evon Whitmire, 84 of Buna, TX will be at 2PM Friday, March 2, 2018, in Buna, TX under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gravis and Rev. Paul Swearingen officiating.

Evon was born on August 9, 1933 in Buna and passed from Alzheimer's on February 26 in Ennis, TX. Evon was the oldest of 9 children born to Jasper and Ola Williams Dryden.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Kenneth R. Whitmire, parents, a brother, Sammy Dryden, and a sister, Johnnie Rush.

Evon is survived by her daughter Ramonda and husband Allen McGraw of Waxahachie, and son Gregg Whitmire of Kirbyville. She is also survived by three sisters, Estelle Whitmire, DeWanda Swearingen, and Dotty Mayea, all of Buna, three brothers, Jimmie Dryden of New York, Jack Dryden of Houston, and Bill Dryden of Orange. Also surviving are grandchildren Spencer and wife Leslie McGraw of Dallas, Jana and husband Scott Thornton of Midlothian, Brittany and husband Daniel Odom of Kirbyville, Chelsea Whitmire of Jasper, Morgan and husband Daniel Seale of Houston, and great grandchildren Griffin, Grace, Dyson, Cassidy, and Alexandria.
