IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nathan Paul
Nichols
July 13, 1930 – December 25, 2021
Nathan Paul Nichols, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born July 13, 1930 in Corsicana, TX to David Edward and Eunie Austin Nichols.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of fifty-seven years; Louise Nichols, and thirteen siblings.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of seven years; Thea Smotts Nichols, sons: James Nichols, David Nichols and his wife; Amy, one grandson; Nevin Nichols, and one granddaughter; Hollie Nichols, six step-children: Richard Smotts, Jr, Randy Smotts, Roger Smotts, Pam Settlemyer, Tammy Settlemyer, Robin Bean and their spouses, fifteen step-grandchildren, seventeen step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He loved his country and chose to serve in two branches of the military: The United States Army and The United States Air Force.
Paul's Christian faith was the anchor and benchmark of his life. When he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, he was instantly delivered from a life of alcoholism. He was always eager to share his testimony with any and everyone, but especially those held captive to addiction of any kind. He wanted everyone to know and experience the same freedom that he had.
Throughout the years, Paul supported ministries like Teen Life Challenge, Royal Rangers, 180 Program, Beulah Harvest, and he was always faithful to help send young people to church youth camp.
Woodworking was his lifelong hobby. He enjoyed building bluebird birdhouses. He used his woodworking skills and built bunk beds for an orphanage in Mexico as well as Beulah Harvest Halfway House. Not only did Paul give of his resources, but he was always eager to "go" when the opportunity presented itself. He made mission trips to Mexico and India.
To know Nathan Paul Nichols was to love him. His kind, gentle spirit, coupled with his bright smile, will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
