Ofelia Ramos
Esparza
November 13, 1929 – October 15, 2017
Ofelia Esparza, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Ofelia was born in Nixon, Texas November 13, 1929 to Jose and Juanita Ramos.
She is preceded in death by her son, Nick Esparza Jr., a brother, Joe Ramos and a great grandson, Nicholas Downs Jr.
Ofelia is survived by her daughter Diana (Phillip) Downs of Waxahachie, son George (Delores) Esparza of Red Oak, son, Oscar (Lisa) Esparza of Tampa, Florida and daughter, Melinda Fitts of Garland, a brother, Louis (Angelica) Garcia of Waxahachie and sister-in-law Erika Ramos of Waxahachie. Grandchildren: Nicholas Downs, Nicole and Jason Chambers; Michael Esparza, Matthew and Hannah Esparza and Daniel Paul Esparza; Christina and Anna Esparza; Riki Lee and Steven Caplinger and Miriam Fitts. Great grandchildren: Chasidy Downs, Kyle Downs, Nicolas Noah Rojas, Erick Downs and Ely Caruso.
In her 80 years, Ofelia has been a member of various churches: Bethesda Assemblea de Dios, Highland Meadows AG, Trinity Fellowship Ministries, and Malachi Ministries. She has served in the capacity of Sunday School teacher, secretary, has led praise and worship, Ladies group and Intercessory Prayer.
Ofelia's occupation was that of a seamstress and a caregiver. Her jobs have been Haggar Slacks, Mr. G of Dallas, United Presbyterian Home for Children as primary caregiver for many children, and as a special caregiver for several private individuals.
Ofelia has tremendous faith in the healing power of God stemming from personal experiences. She was healed of tuberculosis at the age of 22; God brought her through an almost fatal delivery, and, miraculously survived and was healed of serious injuries after a terrible car accident, where she actually died for a few seconds and gives testimony of going into heaven. Her testimony was published in the Pentecostal Evangel.
In addition to being an excellent seamstress, she loved to travel, crochet, and knit. She was also an excellent cook.
She will be greatly missed.
