Ottie Lee Smith April 22, 1950-April 9, 2013 Ottie Lee Smith was born April 22nd, 1950. In his life he was many things; a follower of Jesus, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a Poppy(grandfather), a friend, a mentor, a caregiver, and more besides. During the early morning hours of April 9th his soul was set free of this earthly place. He is remembered for his love of others and joy in life. He had an infectious giggle of a laugh and broad shoulders ready to carry a burden for loved ones and friends. He spent the first of his life in Waxahachie ,Texas, surrounded by the love of his parents, sister and his mother's mother. As a young man he married and became a father to three daughters. He lived his life in Ohio, Dallas, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Tulsa, Ft. Worth, New Orleans, and Tallahassee. He shared the end of his life, his walk with the Lord and a wild ride through the big hurricane with his wife Genie. He is survived by his parents John and Mary Smith, his sister and brother-in- law Pat and Clarence Mathis, his children Heather and Gary Parker, Heidi Smith, Holly Whitmore, Lisa Puckett, and Renee Williams, his grandchildren Madison Parker, Gabriel Whitmore, Gracie Whitmore, Brynn Parker, Zoe Whitmore, Sean Naboa, Tony Jones, Joshua Jones, and Hunter Williams, his nephews and their families Jeff, Christie, Justin, Leigha Mathis and Kayla Hanover, and John, Shelia, Christina, and Matthew Mathis and his wife Virginia Morales Smith. A memorial service will be held at Waxahachie Funeral Home, 1201 West Highway 287 Bypass, on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at 10AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to University Assembly of God Church. The church has requested that you notate that you are donating in Ottie's name.
