Rae Chapman (Bud, Pawp, Papa) of Dallas, Texas, formally of Fenton, Michigan age 87 died Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas.  Rae was born July 15, 1932 to Rae Wicker Chapman Sr. and Ruthela B. Chapman (Young).

Rae loved life, forever making others laugh!  He was a prankster who made the best of any situation.   While attending Flint Central High School, Rae was the star of the swim team, holding records for the school for over 50 years.  He graduated and proudly served in the US Navy, meeting and marrying Donna Jean McCann, October 10, 1952 in Elizabeth City, South Carolina. Rae went on to work for General Motors as a patrolman making the ranks and retired as Chief of Police for all General Motors Plants in Flint, Michigan. Once retiring, Rae and Donna spent time traveling between Florida, Michigan and Texas until she proceeded him in death in January 2005.

Rae is survived by and will be greatly missed by his daughters Linda Riley (Alex Kosarow) of Dallas, TX, Pamela Chapman Markel (Spencer) of San Leon, TX, and Meri Desilets (Drew) of Ennis, TX .  Pawp was adored by his Grandchildren Bill Zacharias (Justyna), John Zacharias (Cathy), Mike Zacharias (Diana), Hannah Riley, Rachel Riley, Shannon Drucker (Kenny), Stacy Phillips Butler (Bill), Sami Elder (Jordan) Damon Desilets (Susie), Danielle Desilets, Lawrence Lee (Carrie), Boyd Craven  (Kelly) Nichole Craven Stowhas (Clardio), Stefanie Crowl (Mike), Thomas Desilets, Melissa Desilets, Michael Desilets, Janet Desilets, Makenzie Desilets, Summer Desilets, Tiffany LaFave (Mike), Rachele Taylor, many great-grandchildren and Special friend Cleta Gudgen.   He was loved by all who met him.

Visitation will be at 12:00, Noon Thursday , May 21, 2020 at Waxahachie Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM  at Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Flint Michigan.
