Richard Barton, 66, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2023. He was born January 9, 1957 in Porterville, California to Jessy and Josephine Barton.  He married the love of his life Sherry Barton on June 14, 1980.

Richard loved listening to music and enjoyed playing drums and guitar. He even had a band at the age of 9 named Dicki and the Dots. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Papa Kept them laughing and always had a story to tell.  His love for animals was unprecedented and was often referred to by his children as the "dog whisper"  One of Richard's biggest accomplishments was being a husband and becoming a father to 5 children who even as adults called their Dad a Super Hero.   He taught them to never take life too seriously and enjoy every moment it has to offer.  He will be missed greatly.

He is preceded in death by his father Jessy Vernon Barton, mother Josephine Iwanna Barton, son J.R. Barton, and brother Nicki Barton.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Sherry Barton, daughters Serena Flores & husband Jeremiah, Ashley Cooley and husband Tony, Kimberly Gonzales & husband Daniel, Tabitha Barton and husband Matthew, grandchildren Marissa, Dakota, Hailee, Nevaeh, Emily, Mya, Savannah, Mackenzie, Olivia, Paisleigh, Cason, Logan, great-granddaughter Laniya, brother Ron Barton, sisters Jean Daughtery, Jane Barton, Sue Thomas and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday June 24, 2023, 9:00 AM, Service will begin at 10:00 AM at Waxahachie Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mountain Peak Cemetery, Midlothian, Texas.
