Robert Lee Bailey completed his witness and went to his reward on July 23, 2023 at the age of 85 at his home in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born to Minor Wallace and Ethel Duke Bailey on February 16, 1938 in Gordon, Louisiana.

Robert served as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for over 50 years in southern Arkansas, the Texas panhandle and southwest Kansas. Thirty-five of those years were at the Assembly of God in Hugoton, Kansas. He loved the community deeply and drove a school bus many of those years. He served selflessly and generously and was a faithful witness to the love of Jesus. Robert was an avid fisherman, bird hunter and gardener all of his life.

Robert is survived by his wife, Darlene Bailey. His children: Rebecca and husband Stephen Smith of Waxahachie, Texas, and Stephen and wife Ronda Bailey of Edmond, Oklahoma. His niece he was privileged to help raise: Sandra and husband Dawson Samuel. His grandchildren: Joseph and wife Adrienne Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Joanna and husband James Huskey of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Ginny Bailey and husband Kirk Ridenour of McAlester, Oklahoma. His great-grandchildren: Ian Smith, Michael Smith, Milo Huskey, Oliver Huskey and Arlo Huskey.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Lillie Mae Harvell, Cora "Shorty" Hicks, Minor "Bo" Bailey and Lamar Bailey.

The funeral will be Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Waxahachie. Burial will follow at the Sardis cemetery. Family visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Waxahachie Funeral Home.
