Ruby Nell Shortes went to be with the Lord July 5, 2014, at the age of 94. She was born January 2, 1920 in Enterprise, Alabama to James and Vonnie Simmons. She married Quentin Shortes May 28, 1940. They spent 43 years as Assembly of God Missionaries in Guatemala. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Shortes, infant daughter Sheryl Quenell, Parents and 3 brothers. Ruby is survived and will be missed by her sons Ron Shortes and wife Sylvia of Waxahachie, TX, Marvin Shortes and wife Glynis, of Waxahachie, TX, daughter Sherri Shull and husband Ron of Cedar Hill, TX, grandchildren Kim Smotts, Kurtis Shortes, Mike Shortes, Tammy Logue, Brent Shull, Marcus Shortes, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, 1 brother, Carroll G. Simmons and a host of nephews & nieces. Visitation will be 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10 am Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at University Assembly of God Church 221 Solon Road, Waxahachie, TX. Interment will be 10 AM Thursday July 10, 2014 at Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas.
