Sandra Sue McClain

March 6, 1946 – July 6, 2024

Sandra McClain of Red Oak passed away Saturday July 6 surrounded by her family in Waxahachie, Tx.  She was born March 6, 1946, to Samuel and Catherine Kirk in Waxahachie, Tx.

In 1960 Sandra met Herman McClain while on a double date with her niece Pat and his friend. On July 10, 1963, Sandra married Herman Edward McClain Sr.

Sandra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & a friend to many. She was a homemaker for most of her young life while raising her children. Then she became a childcare giver. She kept many children in her home over the years whom she loved dearly. She also watched all four of her grandchildren. She was a teacher at Red Oak Day Care for many years then she took a small break and went to work at Happy House Day Care for a few more years. Sandra loved taking care of everyone. She would put their needs before her own many times. She had a heart of gold.

Sandra had many hobbies. She loved dancing, shopping, camping, going to the movies, & eating (especially cheese enchiladas). She loved doing arts, crafts, playing games & she loved her plants and flowers. She also loved her fur babies.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Herman McClain Sr. She is also preceded by her four siblings Rex Kirk, Mildred Martin, Harris Kirk, James Kirk.

Left to honor her memory are son Herman McClain Jr and wife Lisa, daughter Karen Goodloe and husband Alan, grandsons Heath McClain & Tasha, Garrett McClain & Jenny, Zackary Odiorne, granddaughter Cassidy Miller, 6 great-grandchildren, three fur babies and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 12th, from 6-8pm, at the Waxahachie Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, July 13th, at 10, also at the Waxahachie Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
