Shirley Bartel, 82, went to her eternal home February 24, 2024.  She was born February 16, 1942 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Joseph and Corena Murray.

She married the love of her life on June the 12th 1960 . To quote Mrs. Shirley "I enjoy the closeness we feel for each other and our dreams of the future." Mr. Gerald was everything to Mrs. Shirley and they were at their happiest when they were together. Shirley was a devoted Christian in the Assemblies of God church for all her life. She served beside Gerald for 33 years in helping RV Maps build churches throughout the United States. She enjoyed crafting, writing, drawing, but above all she enjoyed time with friends and family.

She is preceded in death by great granddaughter Brylie Johnson, father and mother Joseph and Corena Murray, brothers Barney, Robert, Forest, sisters Wynona, Beverly, and Lodena.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Gerald Bartel, daughter Sonja Wey (Harold Jr.), daughter Jerri Mahan, grandchildren Shauna Johnson  (Brandon), Chad Mahan (Michelle), Natalie Wey  (Brandon), Jocelyn Wey, Thomas Wey ( Madison), Alison Wey, Dallas Sewell, Austin Sewell, great-grandchildren  Addison Johnson, Embry Johson, Kinsleigh Mahan, Liliana Roberts, Rayce Vinson, Hannah Vinson, and Roman Vinson.

Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM  Wednesday,  February 28, 2024 at Waxahachie Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held 9:00 AM Thursday, February 29, at University Assembly of God Church with burial in Quanah, Texas.
