On October 7, 1960, in Waxahachie, Texas, Tammy Jo Beasley was born to James and Dorothy (Graham) Beasley. On August 2, 2026, Tammy peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior. If you knew Tammy, you knew one thing above all else. She loved deeply. She loved with her whole heart, and once you became part of her life, you were loved forever. Her kindness, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to the people she cared about defined the way she lived every single day. On May 12, 1979, Tammy married the love of her life, Mike Ray. From that day forward, it was always "Mike and Tammy against the world." Together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and unconditional love. Tammy cherished being a wife, but becoming a mother was one of her life's greatest joys. She fiercely loved her children and dedicated herself to raising them with compassion, strength, and unwavering support. While motherhood filled her heart, becoming "Nana" was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. When her first grandson arrived in 2006, Tammy's heart grew in ways she never imagined. Later, she welcomed two granddaughters, completing the family she adored so deeply. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and every accomplishment, every milestone, and every ordinary day spent with them brought her immeasurable joy.
Tammy was a proud Christian whose faith guided every part of her life. She faithfully served the Lord through Crossroads Baptist Church in Waxahachie, where she found great purpose ministering alongside her church family. She especially treasured crafting with her daughter Jamie and serving together in the church's Silent Choir. One of Tammy's greatest joys was watching Mike do what he loved most. Playing music and singing. It filled her heart to see him pass that love of music on to their son, Brad, and years later, to watch Brad teach his own son, Caleb, to play as well. Those moments became treasured memories that represented the legacy of love passed from one generation to the next. Tammy proudly cheered from the stands throughout the years at Lumpkins Stadium. She loved watching Brad play football for the Waxahachie Indians and watching Jamie shine on the field as both a Cherokee Charmer and a member of the Spirit of Waxahachie Band. Then came the next generation. Nothing brought a brighter smile to Tammy's face than watching her grandson Caleb carry on the family tradition as a Waxahachie Indians football player, or seeing her granddaughter Pressley represent Waxahachie as an Indians cheerleader. She was absolutely overjoyed when Pressley earned a spot on the varsity cheer squad this year and could hardly wait to cheer her on every Friday night.
Tammy also treasured every drawing, painting, and handmade gift from her granddaughter Emma. Every piece of artwork immediately found a place on her wall because, to Tammy, anything made with love was priceless. She was especially excited to watch Emma begin her senior year and celebrate her graduation from Waxahachie High School.
If Tammy had one wish, it would have been to spend every possible moment surrounded by the people she loved.
Life was not without heartbreak. In 1991, Tammy endured the unimaginable loss of her firstborn son, Sean Michael Ray. It was a grief she carried with her for the rest of her life. Though her heart was forever changed, she continued to pour every ounce of love she had into her family. She made certain that her children and grandchildren never questioned how deeply they were loved. She would have sacrificed anything for them. In 2025, Tammy experienced another heartbreaking loss when her beloved husband, Mike, went home to be with the Lord. Though separated for a time, we find comfort in knowing that what was once "Mike and Tammy against the world" has now become an eternal reunion in Heaven.
Tammy leaves behind a legacy of faith, unconditional love, and unwavering devotion to her family. There will never be another quite like her, and she will be missed beyond words. She is survived by her son, Bradley Dwain Ray and wife, Christinia Ray, of Waxahachie, Texas; her daughter, Jamie Lynne West and husband, Eric, of Italy, Texas; her bonus daughter, Misty Wells, and her family of Waxahachie, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren, Caleb Michael Ray, Emma Leigh Ray, and Pressley Kaye Ray, all of Waxahachie, Texas. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whom she loved deeply.
Tammy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Dwain Ray, on April 5, 2025; her precious firstborn son, Sean Michael Ray, on September 19, 1991; and her parents, James Beasley and Dorothy Wiser. We can only imagine the joyful reunion that took place as Michael stood waiting at Heaven's gates to welcome his mother home, and as Tammy was reunited once again with the love of her life, Mike. While our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that she is whole, at peace, and forever in the presence of her Savior.
