IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vickie Marie
Brown
April 8, 1949 – June 23, 2024
Reverend Vickie Marie Brown was born on April 8, 1949, in Pleasanton, Texas. She was the oldest of seven siblings in the Daniel Pittman, Sr. and Mary Ruprecht Pittman clan and had the role of a "mothering big sister." After graduating from Victoria High School, she attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College where she met her beloved husband, Reverend Jerry Hiram Brown. They were wed on June 28, 1968, at First Assembly of God in Waxahachie, TX. Later in life, Vickie obtained a psychology degree from the University of Phoenix.
At the age of four, Vickie felt a call to be a pastor's wife. She fulfilled this calling with grace, wisdom, and a deep commitment of faith. Vickie loved to teach and minister God's Word which she did with great proficiency. Vickie received her credentials as a minister in the Arkansas District of the Assemblies of God which she transferred to the North Texas District. Vickie served as a Sectional Women's Ministries Rep for several decades in the Arkansas District.
During Vickie and Jerry's fifty six years of marriage, they served as evangelists and senior pastors in Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Missouri and Louisiana. They pastored in Arkansas churches in Mitchell, Mammoth Springs, Harmony Grove, Scotland, Eldorado, Huttig, Monette, Black Rock, and Evening Shade. They pastored in Cedar Lake, Indiana and in Llano, Texas. Upon retirement from pastoring, they joined the staff at Pleasant Hills Children's Home where Vickie served as the Administrative Receptionist for the last ten years.
Vickie was known for her beautiful smile, friendly disposition and welcoming spirit. She was an amazing seamstress and excellent gardener. She would transplant a rose bush when she moved from location to location. Vickie was a talented artist, loved crossword puzzles, an excellent piano player, and a fashionista. She always presented herself beautifully dressed. Vickie was a wonderful friend to many, a loyal wife, a great mother and a loving grandmother.
Vickie Brown is predeceased by her father, Willis T. Hale; her mother, Mary A. Pittman, her step-father, Daniel Pittman, Sr. all of Texas.
Vickie is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Hiram Brown; son, Michael A. Brown; daughters Martha A. Thomassen (Dr. Harry Thomassen) and Melody R. Brown; seven grandchildren, Harmony Leveque, Lindsey Clark, Gloria Blassingame, Karley Thomassen, SGT Billy Brown, Michael Brown and Matthew Brown; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel Pittman, Jr. (Susan), Gary Pittman and Marcus Pittman (Joyce); sisters, Dorothy Popplewell (Ed), Molly Gannon (Wiley), Lena Potter (Tim) and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
