Walter E. Rogers, 76, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness. He was born in DeValls Bluff, Ar. to Walter and Ruth Rogers. He was the youngest of 11 children. Walter married Fay Beeler on May 25, 1952 in DeValls Bluff, Ar. He moved to Waxahachie in 1953, where he became a building contractor and later co-owner of Dollar & Rogers Construction company. Walter loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing whenever he got the chance. He would just drive though the country side just to see if he could find any wild hogs, deer and any other wild life that he could see. He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters, Inez Love, Doris Kennedy, Odell Day, and Elsie Garth. Walter is survived by his wife of 57 yrs. Fay, daughters, Judy Long and husband Danny of Waxahachie, Becky Ramsey and husband Rodney of Red Oak, and a son, Mark Rogers and wife Pam of Waxahachie.. Grandchildren Angie Carroll of Waxahachie, Jill Yates and husband Jeff of Corsicana, Tx., Megan Rogers of Waxahachie, Ashley Rogers of Waxahachie, Damon Cunningham and Kate of Grand Prairie, Tx., Derrick Cunningham of Pearland, Tx, Donavan Jernigan of Waxahachie, and Daniel Jernigan of Red Oak. Great Grandchildren Hailey Carroll, Chase Carroll, Sydney Yates, and Sadey Yates. Sisters Verna Dollar, Rebecca Patterson, Emogene Thomas, Louise Hamric, Mildred Vaughn, and a brother Charles Rogers. Visitation will be Thurs. March 11, 2010 at 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Waxahachie Funeral Home. A Private family service will Friday March 12, 2010. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home, 1201 West 287 Bypass, Waxahachie,Texas.
