IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Leroy
Dixon
February 19, 1948 – April 21, 2025
Bill Dixon went to his heavenly home April 21, 2025.
His memory is honored by his loving wife, Melveene Dixon, son Billy Dixon (Stacie), daughter Jennifer Foy (Shawn), stepson Mason Corbin (Ashley), brothers Paul Dixon and Delbert Dixon (Marilyn), sisters Connie Colston (Brett) and Raelene Wang (Jin), grandchildren Claire Dixon, Chase Dixon, Owen Foy, Cami Eytcheson (Matt), Garrison Fearis (Jaclyn), Galen Fearis (Julia), Rhylan Corbin, Preston Corbin (Rebecca), nieces, nephews, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Bill was born February 19, 1948, in Centerville, Iowa to Max & Wilma Dixon. In 1968, Bill was drafted by the Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He received many awards and medals, including a Purple Heart, during his service to his country. From 1969-1981, he was married to Jan Bird and they had two children together, Billy and Jennifer Dixon (Foy). Beginning in 1989 and continuing for 20 years, Bill worked at Dart
Container as a mechanic. He married his sweetheart of 31 years, Melveene Dixon on October 16, 1993. After retirement, he and Melveene spent time making memories in their Casita and going on many trips. One of their favorite trips was to Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. He always found a way to help other veterans and honor them.
Bill also served his community faithfully and in abundance. On Sundays, Bill's smile and warm welcome could be seen near the doors at First
Baptist Church of Waxahachie as he greeted members and guests before services. He was also a faithful supporter of his and Melveene's local
charity, Shoe Buddy. Bill also spent time each week volunteering through Bristol Hospice (Lighted Pathways) to minister to fellow veterans. Next to Jesus and his family, Bill loved classic cars and old westerns. He could be found spending time in his garage caring for his '57 Chevy or watching Gunsmoke in the living room.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Max Dixon & Wilma Dixon Ulrich, nephew Tim Dixon, step-daughter Sheri Fearis, niece Laura Dixon Durham sister-in-law Melodye Dixon, and grandson Taylor Corbin. Bill loved Jesus and he loved to tell others about Jesus. He ministered to countless people, including during his last days in the hospital, telling them about the love and hope that Jesus offers to each of us.
