Wilma Holder, age 86, of Waxahachie, celebrated her heavenly entrance on December 30, 2017, at her home in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born October 4, 1931 in Arkansas. She was the first born child to Assemblies of God ministers John Henry and Mary Sophia Young.
Wilma was a faithful member of University Assembly of God Church in Waxahachie, Texas. She had a lifelong love for the Lord and desired to serve Him, exemplified thru her committed service to God. She married Jerry Holder on February 27,1960. The Holders served as Assemblies of God pastors and missionaries in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Wyoming. Prior to her retirement from teaching, Wilma was an educator with the Waxahachie School District for 28 years.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Carla Shirley, and her son, Joe Holder, three grandchildren, Amanda Shirley, Jasmine Holder, and James Holder; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Logan, Haley, Monroe, and Matthew; one brother, Johnny Young, and sisters, Bobbie Bowerman, Mary Barnard, Reta Caldwell, Thelma Morgan, Patsy Hodges and Marg Moore. She was blessed throughout her life to have many more family and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Young; her husband, Jerry Holder; her son-in-law, Kim "Tiny" Shirley; her sister, Lois Askins; her brother, Tom Young and other beloved family members.
