Y. K. (Butch) Light, Jr.

March 28, 1942 - December 19, 2017

Y. K. "Butch" Light passed away peacefully in his home in Midlothian, Texas, at the age of 75, on December 19, 2017.  He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on March 28, 1942 to Y. K. Light, Sr. and Francis Theresa Brown Light.

He was employed as a Distribution Manager at Mazda North America for 15 years and most recently was employed at MidTexas International in Midlothian, where he retired in 2008.  He had been a member of the Rotary Club in Midlothian.  During retirement he founded a non-profit organization "Lord's Assisting Hand" that supplied medical equipment for those in need.

Butch served his country in the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, as a Staff Sergeant from 1960 to 1966.

He is survived by his son, Y. K. (Chuck) Light III and spouse, Julie Lynn Light, and two grandchildren Christian Lawrence Light and Savannah Victoria Light, who were very dear to him.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Y. K. and Francis Theresa Light; brother Albert Wiley; and sister Mary Addie Vandevender.

Visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, December 22nd at Waxahachie Funeral Home with the Funeral Service following at 7 p.m.  Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan, Mississippi on Saturday afternoon, December 23rd.
